Addison's "Bump"

Saturday night, Feb 5th, when I came home from work I discovered another "bump" on Addison's thigh. (For those of you that don't know the last "bump" Addison had in June of 2010 turned out to be MRSA and we had a 3 day stay in the Children's Hospital). By Sunday morning it was looking a little worse. I had to work so Jeremy took Addison up the beach to Urgent Care. They were unable to get a culture but still started her on an antibiotic. By the time I got home from work Sunday night it was worse. It had already turned into cellulitis and was spreading. We took Addison on Monday to our primary doctor here on the island. He made an incision to allow the area to drain. They took a culture (haven't gotten the results back yet, but I'm certain it was MRSA again). We were instructed to continue the antibiotics. The area drained a massive amount Monday afternoon/night. By Tuesday it was already looking better. I am so thankful that we caught it in time. She just finished up her antibiotic tonight. The only evidence remaining is the small incision that is healing. I just can't believe that she has had to go through this not once but twice. Stay away MRSA!

*** I found these pictures from Addison's hospital stay in June 2010. I thought she may want to see them someday.
This started as a little red bump. Then turned into this:
