Catch of the Day = Jeremy
So I was at work today and received a call from Jeremy saying that he had been hooked yet again and they were on the way in. I left work in a tizzy to meet him at the boat. Me being a nurse, I think of every possible thing that could go wrong. I have spared you the picture of the actual hook sticking in his arm and have only shared the end result. We met a local doctor at our clinic here in Avon (of course this stuff only happens on a weekend right?). I was so happy because he was going to remove the hook right there which meant no trip up to the hospital. We must have jinxed it because when the doctor went to pull the hook out of his arm it "broke off". Even the doctor said that was the worst possible thing that could have happened. Jeremy was less than thrilled at this point. So, we ended up having to go up after all (did I mention it was Sunday, mid summer, and turn over day?). Thankfully the ER was not busy and they took us right back. They did an x-ray to locate the remainder of the hook and what to our surprise, there was no rest of the hook. Everyone was in disbelief. Jeremy was still in a lot of pain and his arm was swelling so much that they thought he was developing compartment syndrome (for those of you who don't know what that is, it's bad, really bad). They decided to do a CT scan of his arm and consult an orthopedic surgeon. I am freaking out at this point. Thankfully the surgeon decides that he is okay for now but still at risk. They let us go only to call us back because they forgot to splint his arm. After an all day ordeal here we are. Poor Jeremy!
