Christmas Letter 2011

Here is our Christmas letter that we sent out this year:
Happy Holidays from the Johnson family! Due to lack of resources and failure to plan ahead I apologize for not having our letter on pretty stationary this year. I’m just pleased that I had time to get one done.
This has been a very exciting year for us. Shortly before Christmas last year, and much to our surprise, we found out that I was expecting again. We were very excited but knew that we had to have a bigger house for our expanding family. We had been house hunting for several years with no luck. But at the end of the year we finally found something in our price range that we both loved. We jumped and made an offer.  At the end of March our offer was finally accepted and we bought our first home. Three days after we closed we found out that we were having a boy. So once again, I was 5 months pregnant and moving (for the last time though). With the help of family and friends we were all moved in by the first of April. Thanks to everyone that had a part in that! We are so happy to, after almost six years; officially call Hatteras Island our home. The summer flew by and before I knew it, it was time for the new baby. On August 14th at 9:09pm we welcomed Gunner Clayton Johnson into the world.  Jeremy and I have decided that our family is now complete. God has blessed us with two beautiful, healthy children and we couldn’t be happier. Hurricane Irene made her debut less than two weeks after Gunner. We chose not to evacuate and faired very well, unlike many others here. I am more than grateful for our “temporary bridge” that is now our lifeline to the mainland.
Addison, now 3 years old, has been through a lot of changes this year: a new house, a new brother, and a new baby-sitter. She still talks about her “old house” and sometimes tells me to “put him down” (referring to her baby brother), but overall has adjusted well. Some highlights of Addison’s year include a trip to the VA Beach Aquarium, her first haircut, her first trip to the movies, and a trip to the state fair. Addison’s biggest accomplishment this year was potty training. We still have accidents from time to time but she is doing great. We are very proud of her. She is very excited about Christmas this year! We just got our elf on the shelf today, so “Pete” will be watching and reporting back to Santa.
Gunner is 4 months old. He is such good baby. He’s been sleeping through the night since he was 2 months old. We’ve just started him on rice cereal but he is still not too sure about it. Gunner’s big accomplishments for the “year” include smiling, cooing, and rolling over.
Jeremy continues to mate on Sea Creature and is working at the “fish house” during the off season. Our never ending list of projects keeps him busy on his down time. He has acquired a new hobby this year, duck hunting. I don’t think it takes the place of deer hunting but he’s definitely enjoying it, especially since he can do it right here. And I have to give credit where credit is due…  Jeremy is an awesome dad and wonderful husband. I don’t know how I would do it without him.
Working full-time, being a mother of two and a wife leaves me with very little time for anything else. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
We are very excited to spend Christmas in our new home this year! Merry Christmas from our family to yours. And Happy New Year too!
